I truly enjoyed your thoughts for the couple who’s getting married. You could not have said better! Simple truth without fear. I am learning to speak strong kindly. There have been times I have been quite direct and have offended the listener. Other times when I should have been direct I have allowed others to intimidate me. This has caused me undue stress especially when I am accustomed expressing myself openly in a hostile work environment that values political correctness over simple truth.

Beautifully written and it brought tears to my eyes. Too many relationships flounder and die under the need to be right … Some truths, no matter how kindly spoken, appear to be cruel only because the listener cannot accept what is really being said.

For me, a powerphrase to get married to:

Love is patient,
love is kind;
love is not jealous or boastful;
it is not arrogant or rude.
Love does not insist on its own way;
it is not irritable or resentful;
it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right.
Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never ends.

The fact that these words are from the Christian bible doesn’t matter - they were and are simply the best way for my husband and I to express our contract to each other.

I loved the passage that you wrote. Unfortunaterly, I learned firsthand that when truth and trust don’t exist in the relationship, soon passion and companionship don’t either.
