Stefanie figured out how to change the format of a form to make it compatible with other departments. When her boss realized how she figured what to do, he said,
- That was good thinking.
He could have complimented her for her idea, but what he was really impressed with – and wanted to encourage – was her thinking process. The comment hit Stefanie deeper than a compliment on her idea would have.
