January 11, 2007What Do You Think?
It’s been five years and 252 issues. I’m thinking about changing my format. What are your thoughts about it? What are your favorite features? Would you rather get the newsletter monthly than weekly? What suggestions do you have? Thanks.

I really enjoy getting your email on a weekly basis. I like the “Power Phrase” and “Poison Phrase” sections as well as the…well I really like all of the sections you currently have! Your emails are thought provoking, inspiring and just down-right good information. Thanks!

Monthly would work best for me.

I am brand new to receiving your newsletter and I find the format very user friendly! I have also come to rely on receiving my newsletter on a weekly basis. It is helping me form the habit of saying what I mean and meaning what I say without being mean when I say it. Thank you!

Please don’t change a thing for me. If you need to change the format of your newsletter for you “Go For It”, I’ll adjust. I’m new to the Newsletter…. I love it just the way it is.
Thank you so much for making me think,

I think a change in the format would be a nice thing. I think the “This Week in the World” piece should stay in first place. I find that piece the most interesting because of its timeliness. I read your e-zine every week and look forward to it but once a month would be alright too.
I have been receivning your e-zine since you first began writing it and use it as a helpful and informative guide.

I enjoy your weekly newsletter and would not want to wait a month to receive it.
Comment by Marlas — January 11, 2007 @ 10:50 am
This is my first issue — I think it is great but any changes you make would be fine with me. Thanks for asking!
Comment by Dianna Walter — January 11, 2007 @ 10:59 am
Meryl, I preferred your previous format to the current one. I liked the white background more than the current black one, and I liked being able to see an overview of the issue’s topics in the upper left of the first page.
I’d prefer receiving this once or twice a month, rather than weekly. I can hardly keep up with e-mails, and yours continues to be one of two newsletters I actually read. Sometimes I just don’t have time to read it all because it comes so often.
Keep up the great work, please! I often refer friends and family to your outstanding newsletter.

252 issues, WOW!
That’s a lot of work and commitment on your part.
I like the weekly format, Yes, I admit I use them as a diversion, but I feel like they help me become a better person.
You have not said, but I am assuming a monthly issue would be longer than a weekly issue. I would have a harder time committing longer periods of time to such an issue. I dont like reading long documents on the computer.
In the end, you are the one that has to dedicate the time to write the issues. Take care of your needs first. I will appreciate whatever you take the time to write and distribute.
And thank you very much, I have enjoyed your newsletters over the years.

I not only like the your newsletter just the way they are, I look forward to them.
I appreciate all the work you put into this. You do make the world a better place with each newsletter you send.

I really look forward to and value your weekly column, especially the Power Phrase. Since I assume you are interested in doing less work on the newsletter in order to devote time elsewhere, how about a shorter - but still weekly - version? Thanks so much for sharing your wisdom, Meryl!

Changing to monthly is better fior me and maybe better for you too! As another person stated, your website is a nice break in the day and I refer back to articles - so the archived newsletters are a big plus.

I love the format and the publication timing. I hope you don’t change anything with this. I am sure it is a lot of work but very valuable.

I think twice a month is ideal — keep up the great work.

I think the weekly articles are the par excellent, keep up the good work, monthly might prove more demanding to say the least.

I like the weekly format. I like the accountability of a weekly format to keep me focused on what I would like to change.
Thank you so much for your newsletters. They are thoughtful and helpful.

I look forward to seeing an issue every week. It keeps me focused.

I ditto Lon Stewart’s comments. Thank you for making a difference in working relationships. I appreciate your weekly tips for getting the results we want in our crucial conversations. Your articles personify Abraham Maslow”s “What is necessary to change a person is to change his awareness of himself” and I add “herself”.

I like the weekly newsletter. I enjoy them and look foreward to reading them! Keep up the good work! Keep them weekly, please!!!
Thanks!

I love the weekly format - it is short, to the point, and provides a weekly reminder to say what you mean and mean what you say!
Comment by Nicola — January 11, 2007 @ 3:19 pm
Please keep the weekly format! It acts as a great reminder to continue to speak strong on a regular basis. The length is great to be able to take a break to read. I truly look forward to this email every week.
Comment by Michelle — January 11, 2007 @ 4:27 pm
I am new to your newsletter and get a real kick when it pops up weekly. I dive in and scan the contents before reading the pertinent parts in detail.
The weekly reminder keeps me mindful of the techniques I am learning and honing.
I think monthly would be “Meryl who?”
Love it!
Comment by Malcolm — January 11, 2007 @ 4:50 pm
Where has the time gone, Meryl??? 5 years and 252 issues - which means I’ve been working for you for 5 years! Yahooo!!! Thank YOU for the last 5 years and the changes you have helped me make in Speaking Strong. Truly, I don’t think I would have become as strong without you, your books and learning to say what I mean, mean what I say and TRY not to be mean when I say it.
I enjoy the weekly ezine. And I agree with “Lon” that a longer one would not be inviting to read if that was the case with a monthly newsletter. But you are the one that has to commit the time!
Thank you for your dedication and hard work!
Your forever faithful assistant~~

I have only been getting your newsletter a short time; however I do see myself becoming a long time reader. I am enjoying them VERY much and really like the weekly format. I do not think I would have as much benefit from a longer monthly letter but would make the best out of whatever you decided to do. Thank you, you help give me confidence in the words I speak. I have “In my perfect world people say what they mean and mean what they say, without being mean” signed as a quote from you and printed out on the wall by my desk at work.
Comment by Sandra — January 11, 2007 @ 8:07 pm
I so enjoy your newsletter. My life has improved. I like the weekly because I need the pick-me-up.
What would you think about both formats? Monthly could be detailed and interactive and the weekly, maybe, your personal note?
Comment by Susan — January 11, 2007 @ 8:39 pm
I have cancelled all e-newsletters with the exception of yours. I get more out of your weekly newsletter than all others combined. I love the POWER PHRASES and continue to reference them in your book and/or CD I have. I also enjoy the suggestions you offer in responding to others…
Comment by Sandra — January 12, 2007 @ 8:06 am
I enjoy the weekly newsletter. It helps keep my focus on better communication. I like the length of the weekly newsletter as well.
Comment by Diane — January 12, 2007 @ 9:06 am
Weekly is wonderful, but if it’s overwhelming for you, then every other week would be grand for me. My friends and I especially like the “Poison Phrase.” We read it and comment on if we ever used it, or how this has made us aware of NOT using it in future conversations. Keep up the good work! Much appreciated!
Comment by Joan Schliewenz — January 12, 2007 @ 12:15 pm
Unless you just do not have the time, please keep the newsletter coming weekly. Communication has never been my strong point and your insights really help me to recognize what people are really saying or not saying. I have known for a long time that people make the mistake of thinking that others think like they do. I love the way you approach things honestly, directly and matter-of-factly! Thank you

got ur book in australia, now i’m back in canada, i can make time to do the excercises. Your weekly newsletters are inspiring and keep me going on this journey. your book has helped me speak from the heart, with these tools i was finally able to make that connection. It has done wonders for me! There have been many stories in your newletter that i identified with and helped me to be stronger in both attitude and speaking at home as well as at work. Look forward to reading many more. Thanks

I enjoy the weekly e-mails. I like to see the various way other people handle situations. Do what is best for you and your company. We will understand.
This is a very helpful and appreciated website.
Thank you for all the knowledge and shared experiences.

My favoritate areas of the news letter are the “Power phrase of the week” and the “poison phrase”. A monthly news letter would be OK with me and easier on you Meryl. There are many times I do not have time to read the weekly letters but I would take the time to read the monthly since I will want to get all out of it I can.
