November 10, 2007This Week in the World: Better things to think about
An Iowa waitress set the media straight last week when asked about rumors that a presidential candidate didn’t leave a tip. She said:
- There’s better things to be thinking about than who got a tip and who didn’t.
The waitress proceeded to list several global and domestic issues that she thought deserved more attention.
We need more people to keep the focus on what matters most in politics, business and in personal conversations.

This was taken out of context. The waitress said a lot more about the candidate, ie their interaction and what happened to her job after her photo was taken with “the candidate”. The waitress’s comments about the whole situation were power phrases. This one comment was irrelevant to the whole situation.

Thanks Anita - I didn’t hear the whole story, but I thought the part I did hear was inspiring and worth quoting. I invite you to provide the whole context.

Good Job. The waitress appeared to be diplomatic.
