May 13, 2008Poison Phrase ~ Point well taken
“Point well taken” may sound like a PowerPhrase, but if it’s used to deflect, it’s a Poison Phrase. That’s what it was in Lee’s case. Here’s how the conversation unfolded.

Smart of Lee to make that specific inquiry. Are the phrases “I’ll get back to you” and “We’ll take that under consideration” considered Poison Phrases?

Lies are poison, sincere commitment is powerful. When Diane said “Point well taken” she really meant “Point cleverly dismissed” Her statement was disingenuous. The examples you give could represent sincere commitments, in which case they are powerful. However if “I’ll get back to you” really means: “Let’s get off this topic and never visit it again” it is another example of what I politely call a “Grin fake” – saying “yes” when you mean “no”.
