July 7, 2009Deb Ford is couragous and authentic and I am grateful.
Yesterday I retweeted a post about how authenticity does not equate to total transparency. Here’s what I posted: “Essential distinction for Speaking Strong RT @michelfortin ‘Don’t Be Transparent, Be Authentic Instead’” on http://ping.fm/yHvEE
Later in the day I read a post from film maker Deb Ford that contained an unusual amount of transparency. I was grateful for it. I find it incredibly refreshing to read someone in a peaking career such as hers admit to free floating anxiety and sharing her process of tracking it down to its source.
I called a friend today in a bit of a funk. He enjoyed my somber mood. I am pleased to have more more friend who doesn’t prefer a happy face to an authentic – and transparent – face.
How much disclosure is “appropriate?” It’s hard to say, but I can and will say that I am grateful for the transparency Deb shares. She walks her talk is truely a courageous woman. I’m inspired.
