When Paula’s manager assigned her a task with a challenging deadline, she asked,
- What can I delay to add this to my list?
That phrase invited her manager into a collaboration and kept her from agreeing to something that might sabotage other priorities.
There’s another phrase I love -
- I’d rather have a definite no than a reluctant yes.
Reluctant yesses can cost you in the end.
