November 25, 2009PowerPhrase: call me at (x) instead of the number I am calling from
I call out on my Skype phone to keep my main line free and reduce phone charges. However, I prefer people call me back on my home phone since I keep my Skype phone in my office. I would leave the number to call me on, but people would still call me back on my Skype phone… until I became clearer. I started saying,
- Call me at (x) instead of the number I am calling from.
For some of my less detail-oriented friends – (whom I identify with) – I add an explanation about my calling out on Skype for emphasis.
This has resolved the issue. Sure, it “should” be enough for me to leave the number to call me back on, but since it appears not to be, the extra info does the trick.

I got a google voice number that allows you to give out -one- number and have it forward to as many phones as you want (cell – home – husband’s cell) So if you are not at your skype phone – it will ring your cell phone, too. If you don’t pick it up the message will be transcribed and sent to you in an email – very very very cool.
With this system you you can just say – call me back!
I hope I explained it clearly – as it is really a great system to check out.

You are the tech queen! How are you liking your olark customer support?

Love Olark – just need to remember to set my status to “busy” when I leave the computer. When I get my next smartphone I will have google talk on it – so I can do tech support no matter where I am – Which is a bit exciting and strange all at the same time.

You are way more willing to stay plugged in than I am!

I am learning to try to understand how the other person will hear what I say. When I have a question to ask, I may say, “I am going to ask you a quetion but let me explain why I am asking it…”
When the other person understands the reason I am asking the question, I nearly always get the answer the way I need it.
