April 12, 2010GenY communication topic of “Zits” comic strip today
Today’s Zit’s comic humorously illustrated the effect of GenY on communication. Jeremy explained, “people of my generation are used to quicker communication, okay? I’d appreciate it if you’d get to the bottom line a little faster when you talk to me.”
The strip continues.
It’s not far from reality. The younger folks in my intergenerational training will ask, “How do I get my manger to stop talking and just get to the point so I can do my work?”
And the boomers will wonder why the younger workers are so abrupt.
So, twittify your talk. Not everything can be reduced to 140 character nor should it be. But if we all learn the art of succinctness, we’ll be heard.
