June 3, 2010Leadership tip: Give them a pole and watch them catch bigger fish than yours

Filed under: Leadership by merylrunion |

I told my husband how much I love my blog commenters like Anita and Grace. They catch things I miss and take the style I teach to higher levels of refinement.

I was particularly grateful for Grace’s comment that refined my approach and then gave me credit for being the person she learned how from.

Bob said,

  • You give them a pole and they’ll catch bigger fish than you do. That’s a sign of success.

I don’t know that Grace learned it from me, but I will say that having just completed a leader development book that promotes a style that doesn’t require having all the answers, I will say I like what I get and learn so much about what I teach from my community.
